MAKE YOUR BUSINESS FIT FOR THE FUTURE !

As early as 2030, every third new car registered in Europe could be an electric car. So it is no longer a question of whether vehicles with electric or hybrid technologies will really become established. They will soon be a common sight on our roads. These vehicles also need to be tested, maintained and repaired.

Autotestgeräte Leitenberger has been engaged in leakage testing equipment for 53 years and already for 15 years in housing leakage testing of HV components..

The methods and test equipment from Autotestgeräte Leitenberger are ideally suited for the early detection and identification of safety-relevant weak points in high-voltage and thermal management systems.

Oil change was yesterday....

Central topics will become more important for manufacturers and workshops in the future:

  • Leak testing of the HV battery
  • Thermal management for hybrid systems and electric drives
  • Electrical safety
  • Climate maintenance

Many damages to high-voltage systems are of mechanical origin: shock, vibration, purely mechanical damage and/or consequential damage. With full focus on the function and safety of the electronics of HV systems, mechanical issues are often overlooked or not prioritised.  The methods and test equipment from Autotestgeräte Leitenberger are ideally suited for the early detection and identification of safety-relevant weak points in high-voltage systems.

The tests and devices are used in the development and production of HV components and HV systems as well as in workshop service. The use of the devices supports high-voltage systems so that vehicles can be used as long as possible, safely and without loss of performance.

Why do the housings of HV components have to be tested at all?

The demands on the housing tightness of HV components are usually very high, in some cases up to protection class IP 67. Everyone can imagine the serious effects of water ingress into an HV component. For this reason, leak tests must be carried out on the housings of high-voltage components from electric vehicles during production, at the latest at the end of the line and in customer service.  In customer service/aftersales, the tested components usually remain in their original places - without removal of the respective HV components. The Leitenberger leak testers are designed for non-destructive testing, i.e. the test specimen is not destroyed.
